VULNERABLE..

~VULNERABLE~
Note: I wrote this poem 18 years ago. We have failed due to men like Trump who do not believe in Global warming and got out of the Paris Agreement. If he gets power again, we will be doomed.

There is enough water on earth
to submerge all the land except
some mountains so why are we
still on land and not submerged?

The answer is very simple that
Polar ice and snow reflect the rays
of the Sun and the heat absorbed is
not enough to melt the Polar ice.

If the Polar ice is covered with black
dust, it would absorb heat from the Sun,
Ice would melt and water would cover
entire earth's surface except for mountains.

We are vulnerable and yet not aware
of our vulnerability and we act as if
we will rule the Earth forever without
any fear of total loss of our habitat.

There is a constant danger of a collision
with any debris from space at thousands
of kilometres per hour could destroy our
planet and there is nothing to stop that.

Ten per cent of our land is ice and it has
Profound effect on the ever-changing climate.
Negative feedback with global cooling
And a positive one with global warming.

Global cooling would make more ice
Reflecting heat back to outer space
Causing more ice and more cooling
A vicious circle leading to the ice age.

Global warming melts ice and heat is
Retained causing more melting of ice
In turn, more heat retained with less
Reflective surface to reflect heat away.

We have Global warming and survival
Of the human race is in question now.
We are so vulnerable that our survival
Depends on chances and circumstances.

Just as it is written in the bible.

UPDATE:
CARBON PARTICLES ARE FALLING ON ICE AND ARE TURNING WHITE SNOW AND ICE INTO GREY COLOUR. LESS HEAT IS REFLECTED AND MORE HEAT IS RETAINED MAKING ICE TO MELT FASTER.
GREENLAND IS MELTING 7 TIMES FASTER THAN THE RATE IT MELTED 10 YEARS AGO. WHEN ALL THE ICE IS MELTED THERE, THE SEA LEVEL WILL RISE BY 17 METERS. ALL THE COASTAL CITIES LIKE LONDON, AND NEW YORK WILL BE UNDER WATER.

UPDATE:
DEADLY WILDFIRE GROWS LARGEST IN TEXAS HISTORY

Several large wildfires continue to tear through northern Texas, including one that has grown into the largest blaze in state history.

The Smokehouse Creek Fire that ignited in Hutchinson County remained active as of Thursday morning, having burned an estimated 1,075,000 acres and was just 3% contained, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service. The flames, which cover an area larger than the size of Rhode Island, have spread across state lines, with 1,050,000 acres burned in Texas and 25,000 acres burned in Oklahoma.

The East Amarillo Complex Fire, which burned also in Hutchinson County in 2006, had been the largest in the state's history at just under 1 million acres, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service.
